Bengali tigress gives birth to four cubs at Bahawalpur zoo

People, including children, in large number enjoyed to see four newly born cubs of a Bengali tigress as they appeared for the first time at the Bahawalpur Zoo on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Zoo curator Dr. Tariq told Dawn that tigress Rani created history by giving birth to four cubs at the age of 32 years through harmonic therapy. She is the oldest tigress to conceive and give birth to cubs.
He said that Rani was given extra care and proper feeding by the Zoo under the supervision of the Punjab Wildlife Department.
Dr. Tariq said that the pregnancy of an aged Bengali tigress with harmonic therapy was also a rare incident in wildlife history.
The newborns are all females and with their arrival, the number of tigers in the zoo has risen to eleven.
