Pakistan’s super star Mahira Khan has recently won the best Asian Actress Award for playing the titular character in tele-film ‘Aik Hai Nigar’.
The film, a project of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has also won the best Asian Film Award at the Septimus Awards 2022 at Amsterdam.
Mahira was widely appreciated by her fans and critics for her impressive role of Nigar Johar, who is the country’s first female Lieutenant-General, in the much admired movie.
The biopic film’s story tells how Nigar Johar overcame a personal tragedy and social restraints to achieve her dream of becoming a lieutenant-general in the Pakistan Army.
Mahira Khan, the internationally recognised artist, has penned a gratitude note on Instagram for her fans and the team of the movie.
She thanked film’s writer Umera Ahmed, director Adnan Sarwar, cameraman Omar Daraz, actors and crew members for their contributions for making the award-winning tele-film.
“There are so many people I need to thank and am grateful to, for this small labour of love we made ‘Aik Hai Nigar’.”
She revealed in another post that AHN was the last movie that her grandmother (nani) had watched.
“She watched it with full concentration… and, in the end gave me a big smile and the cutest salute,” Mahira said.
The Septimus Awards is the International Film Festival, showcasing feature films, documentaries, short movies, animated films, and television series. It aimed at showing independent films and projects from around the world and awarding the best talents at the yearly festival.
