Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets after successfully chasing the huge target of 342 runs on the fifth and final day of the first Test on July 20.
They chased down their second highest target in Test cricket, and a record total at Galle.
Pakistan made 344 for six to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. The second Test will be played from July 24 to 28 at the same venue.
Young opener Abdullah Shafique remained not out on 160, his second hundred in six Tests he has played so far.
Other main scorers were captain Babar Azam (55), Mohammad Rizwan (40) and Imam-ul-Haq (35).
Abdullah’s ton was Pakistan’s second individual hundred of the match, the first one was scored by Babar in the first innings when he made courageous 119 to take his side out of trouble.
