Stokes announces to retire from ODI cricket

England’s Ben Stokes has announced to retire from one-day international cricket after the first of three ODIs against South Africa at his Durham home ground on July 19.

The 31-year-old allrounder said playing three international formats – Twenty20, 50-over ODIs and Tests – is now “unsustainable”.

Stokes, who captains the England Test team, said in a social media post it had been an “incredibly tough decision to make.

He has scored 2,919 runs and taken 74 wickets in ODIs.
