Naila Kiani becomes first Pakistani woman to climb Mount Everest

Dubai-based Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani became the first Pakistani woman to climb five eight-thousand-peaks, including Mount Everest, which she scaled on May 14.

Samina Baig was the first Pakistani woman to summit the Everest in 2013.

Naila started her summit push on May 13 and summited the world’s tallest peak on May 14.

She had summited K2, Gasherbrum-I, Gasherbrum-II and Annapurna before scaling Mount Everest.

A Dubai-based banker, amateur boxer, and mother of two daughters, Naila first gained prominence in 2018 when images of her wedding shoot at K2 base camp circulated on social media. She had climbed K2 just hours after Samina Baig became the first Pakistani woman to achieve this feat.

Besides, a British-Pakistani woman Nadia Azad also summited the Mount Everest on the same day. She also climbed Annapurna with Imagine Nepal’s Annapurna Expedition Team.
